PupAid 2018 - The Year Of Lucy's Law

Hello, Plum Pudding here!

The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind for me but I wanted to put my paw to paper and share with you one of my favourite events of the year, PupAid.

Enjoying the view over Primrose Hill

It’s always an extra special day but this year it was even more poignant with Lucy’s Law being announced in August.  Named in honour of my big sister, Lucy, Lucy’s Law calls for a ban on third-party commercial sales of puppies ie by pet shops and dealers.  So if you want a dog to become part of your family we would urge you to either go to a rescue centre and adopt a dog like me (I mean I'm pretty cool, right?!) or go to a reputable breeder where you can ALWAYS see mum interacting with her puppies.

The hugely popular PupAid event is held in Primrose Hill, London and is the brainchild of TV vet Marc Abraham.  The event which is now in its 9th year raises awareness of the horrific puppy farming industry and rescue pet adoption.

I think big sister Lucy was certainly looking down on us, as the sun was beaming and the event was the best ever.  There was a HUGE turnout supporting the cause and such a feel-good factor and buzz about the whole day, it was just a really lovely event to attend.

There was lots to see and do on the day including trade stands full of treats for you and your pooch as well as an array of ethical charity stands to support.  There was also have a go agility, a super fun celebrity-judged dog show, entertainment from Britains Got Talent Lucy And Trip and when you needed a rest and refuel there was yummy vegan food available too.

There were four-legged friends and celebs galore!  As you will see from my gallery of pictures I had cuddles with A LOT of people, what can I say I'm just a cuddle monster!

I had cuddles with Ricky Gervais, we even posed for a Tongue Out Tuesday pic, clearly, he’s heard about my modelling skills and liked my style!.  At one point he even tried to put his sunglasses on me, I think he thought I needed to hide from the puparazzi.

I’m a big fan of power naps, so mid-way through the day I fell asleep on the grass in the VIP area with my legs in there air (as you do) sometimes a girl just needs her beauty sleep, right?!

Quick power nap!

It was heart-warming to see so many familiar faces attend the event and showing their support.  The PA had a couple of wobbly moments but I was there, by her side, the whole time with a smile on my face to guide her through! Rachel Riley wanted to take me home, luckily mummy caught her in time hehe!

  • Brilliant blog Plum Pudding! I do think big sister Lucy was looking down on the day and what a fantastic day it was. Lovely to meet you briefly as you popped your head through the tent hehe!! Well done for looking after the PA as it was quite emotional at times especially with the success of Lucy’s Law. I had the pleasure of talking to Pasha and Rachel, lovely celebs. You are quite the celebrity yourself now, so many people want to have their photo taken with you!
Hope to see you next year xx
